The Veterans Equity Center was founded to initially provide information and referral, translation, and consultation services to Filipino World War II Veterans and their families. Since then, VEC has grown to provide these services to San Francisco seniors and adults with disabilities:
Computer Skills Class
We provide an introduction to basic computer class to teach the seniors the fundamentals such as usage of the mouse, keyboard techniques in typing and familiarity with the components that are used in a computer. In this class, we ensure that we follow their pace.
Arts and Crafts
Our arts and crafts program provides a variety of choices like knitting, crocheting, jewelry making, family tree sketching and lantern/parol making. This provides an avenue for the veterans, their wives and widows, as well as other seniors to engage themselves in a positive outlet for expression and creativity.
VEC provides free legal service every first and third Friday of the month, 2-4 PM. Clients are served on a first come, first serve basis. Priority is given to WWII veterans and their immediate family.
SF VEC provides legislative updates and information regarding current and proposed benefits for Filipino WWII veterans.
